""I came to Nancy in search of a chronic illness support group and a pain management dr to manage several painful chronic illnesses.  She was extremely empathetic and supportive as I shared some of my past negative experiences with support groups and my fears of rejoining one.  She helped allay my fears my sharing some of her own personal experiences, as we shared a similiar diagnosis.  She also took the time to find out what I didn't like about the groups I was in.  She then assisted me with finding several support groups that might be better suited to my needs and she  followed up with me to see which group I had selected and how things were going.  She also assisted me with locating a pain management dr in my area who accepted my insurance and spent a few times on the phone discussing some helpful techniques for coping with chronic pain in between my monthly support groups.  Nancy has truly been a blessing in my life and is a knowledgeable, compassionate, and professional woman who has now become my friend."

Acute Condition- Severe Gout,  TMJ

I came to Nancy in a panic when I experience unbearable pain in the ball of my right foot.   I woke up one morning, completely unable to walk.  I have two young children, so what was I going to do?  Nancy immediately helped me to take a few deep breaths and validatied how scared I must be not knowing how I will care for my kids.  She then assured me that she was going to help me figure this out.  She suggested I see a podiatrist and helped me quickly find a reputable one in my area.  The podiatrist tested me for Gout, and sure enough, when the medicine he prescribed worked, that is what it was.  When told by the DR to follow a "gout" diet, I was a bit unclear of what exactly I should be avoiding.  Nancy directed me to informative websites with nutrition tips to prevents attacks from recurring.  She also directed me to specific online patient support forums I never knew existed.  Thanks to Nancy's direction, I have not had a Gout attack in almost a month!

I also came to Nancy when I experience terrible, chronic pain in my ears, mostly in my right ear (What is it about my right side)?  I went to an ENT who insisted that I had a blocked eustacian tube.  When I told him that the pain was unbearable, he told me to just "deal with it".  Nancy helped me realize that I needed to get a second opinion and that I did not have to accept his dismissal of my crippling pain. She explained that she was not a doctor but that jaw pain along with some of the other symptoms can sometimes be TMJ (which she happens to have herself).  Nancy assisted me with locating a second opinion and her hunch was correct.  I was diagnosed with TMJ, as a result of grinding my teeth at night. It was recommended that I wear a mouth guard at night,and since I started, the pain has gone away!  Without going to Nancy, I would have taken my first Dr's opinion to heart and never would have sought out a second one.

Nancy has the ability to provide information with clarity, but she also displays empathy and kindness.  I highly recommend the use of Nancy's consulting services, especially if you are new to being a "patient".  I am so glad I did.
